The SFDPH HIV Research Section is a leader in HIV prevention research working with Bay Area communities to discover effective HIV prevention strategies. Operating under the umbrella of the San Francisco Department of Public Health, the HIV Research Section conducts innovative research that guides global approaches in HIV prevention, such as pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) and HIV vaccines. Through collaboration with other researchers and communities throughout the world, the HIV Research Section's scientific breakthroughs will be used to help people most affected by the epidemic. HIV Research Section greatly values the diverse study volunteers who are joining a global network of volunteers influencing the development of HIV prevention strategies that strive to eliminate HIV/AIDS worldwide.

The Ruth M. Rothstein CORE Center is a clinic for the prevention, care and research of HIV/AIDS and other infectious diseases located in Chicago, Illinois. Services include primary and specialty medical care, dental care, social and support services, prevention and education programs and opportunities to participate in research. The Center also has an onsite-screening clinic that offers confidential testing and treatment for sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), confidential counseling and testing for HIV and tuberculosis (TB) screening.
The Ruth M. Rothstein CORE Center was established as a partnership between the Cook County Health and Hospitals System and Rush University Medical Center. Since it opened its doors in 1998, the Center has remained one of the largest HIV/AIDS clinics in the United States.

Evandro Chagas Clinical Research Institute - IPEC
The Evandro Chagas Clinical Research Institute (IPEC) was the first hospital in Brazil dedicated to scientific research. IPEC’s networks throughout Africa and South and North America evaluate new drugs to prevent HIV transmission from mother to child, and identify the safest and most efficient strategies to prevent HIV infection in babies exposed to HIV.

Projeto Praça Onze was originally the name of a NIH-sponsored prospective HIV seroincidence cohort study based at Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro. Since its creation in 1994, the major goal of Projeto Praça Onze has been to actively contribute to the control of the HIV epidemic. Its priorities include participation in vaccine development efforts, clinical trials to develop better treatments for HIV infection, treatment and prevention of HIV-related opportunistic diseases, and intervention research to prevent the transmission of HIV and other sexually transmitted infections.

The Research Institute for Health Sciences (RIHES) was formally constituted as part of Chiang Mai University in 1978 and is mandated to conduct biomedical, clinical, epidemiological and behavioral research on priority public health topics of concern to the northern population of Thailand and its neighboring countries. The director is professor Suwat Chariyalertsak. The Preventing Infections in Men clinic (PIMAN) was established in 2007 to conduct HIV prevention interventions in men who have sex with men.

The Desmond Tutu HIV Foundation (DTHF) is a registered non-profit organization focused on the pursuit of excellence in research, treatment, training and the prevention of HIV and related infections. The DTHF operates community sites throughout greater Cape Town, South Africa, providing treatment, testing and outreach services to at-risk communities such as men who have sex with men.
Run in association with the Desmond Tutu HIV Centre at the University of Cape Town's Institute of Infectious Disease and Molecular Medicine, DTHF has become a source of advice for medical practitioners and a leader in preventative education. With an experienced and dedicated team of over 150 doctors, nurses, researchers and community-trained field workers, the Desmond Tutu HIV Foundation offers a holistic approach to the HIV epidemic.
